He calls himself restless,

but I call it choosing where to rest.

He forgives his family again and again.

He loves his children even when they drain him,

and he never quits the job and career that exhausts him, because he says, “That’s life.”

So what is marriage, then, if not life?

What makes his vow different from his team,

his brand,

his family,

his history?

and he clings to his pride like a sacred thread

so why does his loyalty disappear

why does it vanish

when it comes to the one who walks besides

He says he cannot stay faithful to one woman

that it is not in his nature.

But his nature bends for everything else.

He can wait years for a promotion,

hold grudges for decades,

and nurse friendships through storms

yet one silent dinner, and he declares love a cage.

She gave him children,

she gave him a home,

she gave him peace in the quiet he once prayed for.

Now that same quiet haunts him?

He says she’s changed

but maybe it’s him who stopped looking.

Maybe the old fire is still there,

just hidden under the ashes of routine.

Perhaps if he lent her a hand,

Loyalty, I’ve learned,
